Jai Kumar is a 16 year old multitalented boy, who lives in JJ Colony of Bawana, North West Delhi with his family. His father is a labourer and mother a House wife. His elder brother supports the family too along with his father for the bread and butter of family.
Even though born in an extremely vulnerable environment which is crime and drugs prone, Jai was always fascinated towards technology and gadgets.
Although he couldn’t get much exposure in digital training, he didn’t leave any opportunity to explore other apps whenever he could through the only mobile phone his family had. He was often scolded for his passion as his parents couldn’t understand and rejected it as an unproductive habit.
He has been associated with Navjyoti Remedial Program since Class I. The holistic development of Navjyoti is helping him to grow day by day. He enjoys classroom teaching learning activities. Drawing, music, motion designing and coding are his hobbies.
During pandemic he got to know about the Project Kaushal, where he got the opportunity to enroll in coding classes. He learnt and got orientation about Computer Hardware & Software, Networking & Internet, Computer & Programming Language. Also he got practical exposure of creating apps using CODE.org.
To everyone’s surprise, he showed exceptional promise as a learner in coding classes conducted by WhiteHat Jr and developed a game named Floppy Bird. He further designed a user interface called Food App.
While talking to Jai about his aspiration, he expressed that he wants to pursue his career in coding and he is very much passionate about it. He is very grateful to Navjyoti India Foundation for creating such experiential learning platform for so many students like him who cannot afford expensive courses in the market. With this support, he feels that he has moved one step closer to his dream.
