Bridging her digital divide

Priya, a passionate Anganwadi Worker (Courtyard Shelter) who lives with her joint family at Kirari, Delhi. She is a diligent worker who believes in self-learning and development to keep herself motivated and updated to stay in the competition. She has been working as an Anganwadi worker for the past few years and during these years she has worked very hard to prove herself as the best worker among her group. However, due to the digitization at workplace, she was not able to finish off her work timely, resulting in low performance for which she often used to get cast down. But being self-driven, she decided to address this challenge and got to know about Navjyoti India Foundation’s free digital literacy course from one of her acquaintances.

She was earlier a bit skeptical about it as the course was offered for free. But she enrolled and was truly impressed by the quality and the structure of the course that helped her to learn about the internet, MS-Excel and MS-Word, and many more report writing techniques. This helped her immensely to make daily reports of Anganwadi for herself and the entire team. She has started getting appreciation at her workplace for her improved efficiency.

She was so impressed with the course, that she got her husband enrolled in the course as well, who was running a photocopy shop earlier but now has expanded his work from just a photocopy shop to a digitized centre where he helps people in registering for aadhar card, pay electricity bills, apply online for examinations and many other online computer-related work.

Both Priya and her husband are grateful to Navjyoti India Foundation for facilitating this change and thus helping them to bridge the digital divide.
